AGE VII - THE AGE OF LEGIONS​

The Imperium expands beyond the immediate reach of Aternum. The Proto-Legion Romulus is established. Its Chapters march outward from the capital. The dream of a greater Imperium appears within reach. Bloodlust X marches alongside the growing ambitions of the Imperium. This becomes the most aggressive period of Blacksky expansion. The roads leading from Aternum carry armies, Chapters, and hope into the unknown.

Historical Record​

The Golden Age had transformed Aternum into the undisputed heart of the Imperium. Its walls stood strong. Its institutions endured. Its roads stretched far beyond the capital. The question was no longer whether the Imperium could survive. The question was how far its influence could reach. This age provided the answer. As the ambitions of the Imperium continued to grow, the first great military formations began to emerge. Chapters that once served independently became part of something larger. New structures of command were established to coordinate expansion beyond the immediate authority of the capital. From this vision arose Romulus. The first Legion. The Proto-Legion.

Romulus represented more than a military organization. It represented a belief that the Imperium could extend its influence far beyond the horizons visible from the walls of Aternum. Its Chapters marched outward along the great roads constructed during the Golden Age. Among them stood Bloodlust X. Already respected as one of the Imperium's most distinguished Chapters, Bloodlust X became a defining symbol of this era's ambition. Together with the growing strength of Romulus, it embodied the confidence of an Imperium convinced that its greatest victories still lay ahead.

The roads leaving Aternum became arteries of expansion. Columns marched beneath banners. New territories were explored. New frontiers were established. For a time, it appeared that nothing could halt the momentum of the Imperium. This became the age of possibility. The age when the dream of a greater Imperium appeared within reach. Yet history would later remember this period for another reason. The farther the Imperium expanded from its foundations, the more difficult those foundations became to protect. The seeds of future triumphs were planted during this age. So too were the seeds of future tragedy.

Legacy​

The Age of Legions marked the furthest expansion of Imperial ambition. Romulus became the first Legion. Bloodlust X became one of its defining Chapters. Together they carried the hopes of an Imperium that believed its future was boundless. Yet the same roads that carried the Imperium outward would eventually carry news of its greatest loss. The dream had reached its height. The fall had not yet begun. But it was coming.
