AGE IV - THE FIRST RECORDS​

The Blacksky Archives are established. The earliest records are preserved. The Codex begins. The first Edicts are written. The first Directives are established. History becomes preserved rather than remembered. The Hall of Dread becomes the keeper of Blacksky's memory. During this age the Blackguard Sanctum is established beneath the growing foundations of Aternum. The protection of Blacksky becomes institutionalized.

Historical Record​

As the foundations of Blacksky continued to grow, the need for preservation became increasingly apparent. Knowledge passed only through memory could be lost. Lessons learned through hardship could be forgotten. Without a permanent record, every generation would be forced to begin anew.

To prevent this, the earliest Archives were established within the Hall of Dread. The first records were gathered. The first histories were preserved. The earliest versions of what would become the Codex were committed to record. During this age, the first Edicts were written to establish order, and the first Directives were created to guide the continued growth of Blacksky. For the first time, knowledge no longer depended solely upon those who carried it. It could endure beyond them. As the Archives expanded, a second realization emerged. What is preserved must also be protected. From this necessity arose the foundations of the Blackguard. Deep within the growing corridors beneath the Hall of Dread, the Blackguard Sanctum was established. Its purpose was not conquest. Its purpose was guardianship.

The Blackguard became the silent protectors of the Imperium's most important foundations, ensuring that its records, institutions, and history would survive whatever trials awaited future generations. Together, the Archives and the Blackguard transformed Blacksky from a growing civilization into one capable of preserving itself. One became the keeper of memory. The other became its shield.

Legacy​

Age IV established two principles that continue to define the Imperium. Nothing of value should be forgotten. Nothing worth preserving should remain unprotected. The Archives and the Blackguard remain among the oldest institutions in Blacksky, and both trace their origins to the foundations laid during this age.
